To succeed as a freelancer, you need to learn what makes you fail in the first place. Here are some of the most common reasons of your freelance career failure:

1. Get as much distractions as you can – picking up phone calls, going out and about with your friends, etc. – instead of finishing your projects on time.

2. Never read articles, take courses, attend seminars and anything that can improve your freelancing skill set.

3. Never think about joining any freelancing forums and communities – just go solo.

4. Avoid building a web or blog site to host and showcase your portfolio.

5. Never ask for reviews and testimonials from former clients.

6. Don’t do any personal branding effort, because you think it’s better to stay below the radar and not being found by project owners and employers.

7. Never show anyone your work and keep it to yourself – never pitch someone about your work.

8. Don’t learn from your mistakes; in fact, never try to improve your work’s quality.

9. Give up easily and handle rejections badly.

10. Just give up everything related to freelancing – it’s not for you, anyway.
